Half Day Cycling Tour Mornington Peninsula - Sons of Beaches Tour

Half Day Cycling Tour Mornington Peninsula - Sons of Beaches Tour

The southern beaches of Port Phillip Bay have been a popular summer holiday destination for Melburnians for over 150 yrs. This stretch of coastline had an important part to play in Victoria’s early history harbouring the first settlement at Sullivan Bay in 1801.

Today Melburnians make their annual pilgrimage to visit beautiful beaches, fine restaurants and cafes. The Port Phillip coastline is entwined in the early history of Victoria. The cycling tour starts at McRae Homestead, one of Victorias oldest, built in 1844. Explore this treasure maintained by the National Trust before we head off along the coastal track. There’s no rush and there’s plenty of time to go for a swim or just relax by the bay. After lunch at Blairgowrie we continue on to Sullivan Bay and the site of Victoria’s first settlement.

The tour finishes at Sorrento with a 1 hr walk along the cliff tops known as the “Millionaires Walk” Take in the stunning views to the Bellarine Peninsula on the other side of Port Phillip Bay and see the place where Victoria was first claimed in King Georges name in 1802.

Where: Meet at Sorrento. From there we will provide transport to the tour starting point at McRae Homestead. This will allow you to have your car waiting at the Red Hill Brewery at the end of the tour. If you need to be picked up or if you have made other travel arrangements, please contact us.
