The big highlight today is Port Arthur, Tasmania's most visited attraction. On the way there, we have plenty of stops and some great spots to explore.
After a short drive to the Tasman Peninsula we take the time to visit the surrounding area and see some of the highest sea cliffs in Australia, with stops at the Tasman arch, the Devils kitchen and the amazing Waterfall Bay.
Once we arrive at Port Arthur Historic Site we allow plenty of time to explore the history (~ 4 hours). Explore the site, feel the isolation of the convicts, discover the grim and violent history. Enjoy an afternoon of discovery with plenty of time to explore ruins and spooky corners. The afternoon includes a guided walking tour and a short harbour cruise.
After leaving the Historic site we return to Hobart via Tassie's prettiest historic village Richmond (~1 hour). With a stop here we allow time to see Australia's oldest bridge, hand built by convicts.
The day is finished with a spectacular views from a local Hobart lookout.

A word about Tassie's weather … the sun is harsh, if it's shining you will want to ‘slip, slop & slap'. The weather can change quickly; we always recommend bringing a warm jumper and a rain jacket … just in case!
