Otago is New Zealand's second most southerly region after the Southland. Geographically, it comprises of some of the country's most diverse landscapes. Dunedin is Otago's largest city and it lies at the head of the charming Otago Harbour on one side and looks out over the Pacific Ocean on the other, with hills surrounding the city being a reminder of its volcanic past. Things to do and see in and around Dunedin include Larnach Castle, New Zealand's only castle and a miniature version of the English equivalent, Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world, which is celebrated during the annual chocolate festival by rolling 15,000+ chocolate marbles down it and the Royal Albatross Centre, where you can get up close and personal with the magnificent seagoing birds.

Queenstown is the tourist mecca of the South Island and a must see destination for all visitors to New Zealand's Otago region. It sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and in winter it is surrounded by beautiful snow-clad mountains. Queenstown is world famous as an adventure tourism destination. It offers the largest range of adrenaline pumping activities in New Zealand, and possibly even the world. Here you can find Rafting, Jet Boating, Hang Gliding, Abseiling, Heli Skiing, Parasailing and the world's original Bungy Jumping location. If you're after something more laid back, take Scenic Flight or Helicopter Tour. How about a romantic scenic Boat Cruise on Lake Wakatipu aboard the TSS Earnslaw? Finally Milford Sound, the jewel in the crown of the region is best viewed by boat. Drive or fly to Milford and cruise the Sound for a truly breath-taking experience you'll never forget.
